The Project Engineer - Field supports the Project Engineer and is responsible for the oversight of one or more disciplines of construction work, including organizing the acquisition of materials, equipment, and workers, planning for costs, and supporting the Project Engineer and Superintendents on various tasks. This position also reviews design and bidding documents, evaluates contractor bids & submittals, and oversees construction progress and scheduling. Additionally, the Project Engineer – Field provides technical support to construction staff under the supervision of the Project Engineer.
General Requirements
B.S. degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field of study or equivalent job history. Entry level graduate up to 3 years of experience preferred, or 2 to 4 years’ experience construction related trade experience. Internship(s) or Co-ops with a construction company is desired.
Strong communication skills
Computer proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office Suite software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point) and other applicable software programs
Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to change
General knowledge of office protocol, routines and procedures
Ability to read and comprehend plans and specifications
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills and ability to meet deadlines
Self-motivated and proactive
Able to accomplish tasks without direct oversight
Primavera P6 experience from college courses or construction work is highly recommended
Experience in TxDOT pay applications and tracking ideal
Duties
Assist in updating Project Schedule in P6 and development of monthly pay applications to client
Assist in the development of cost estimates and forecasts
Review plans and other technical documents
Track quantities, monitor costs, and project progress
Create, manage and track RFI’s from the field to the architect/engineer of record
Assist the Project Engineer/Project Manager/Superintendent in creating and distributing the project schedule
Understand appropriate building codes/ regulations
Assist in coordinating project change-order management
Assist the project team with site safety documentation and coordination
Assist the project team with closeout of the project
Assist Project Accountant with monthly subcontractor billings and pay application
Assist Project Engineer with assigned tasks
Assist in inspecting all work to assure compliance with plans and specifications
