Project Engineer
Balicore Construction is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer to support the successful planning, coordination, and execution of commercial construction projects.
The Project Engineer works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, design professionals, and other project stakeholders to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with contract documents.
This position is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to develop their construction management experience while gaining hands-on exposure to all phases of commercial construction.
- Support the Project Manager and Superintendent with overall project coordination, document review, meetings, project startup through closeout, and communication among field teams, subcontractors, vendors, and design professionals. Identify and communicate potential project issues and follow-up needs.
- Prepare, review, track, and distribute submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs. Maintain accurate logs and ensure project drawings, specifications, and related documents remain current.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors regarding documentation, schedules, procurement, deliveries, long-lead items, outstanding requirements, and scope-related matters.
- Support project scheduling and milestone tracking, monitor material and equipment deliveries, conduct site visits, and help resolve discrepancies between project documents and field conditions. Ensure field teams have current project information.
- Assist with tracking project costs, budgets, commitments, change orders, pricing, invoices, purchase orders, and supporting documentation for changes in scope.
- Support jobsite safety and quality-control efforts, participate in inspections and punch walks, identify incomplete or non-conforming work, and communicate concerns to project leadership.
- Support punch list completion, final inspections, turnover, and collection of warranties, O&M manuals, as-built drawings, and other required closeout documentation.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Building Construction, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
- Previous construction internship or 1–3 years of commercial construction experience preferred.
- Entry-level candidates with relevant construction education and internship experience are encouraged to apply.
- General understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and construction processes.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with field and office personnel.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
- Experience with Procore or similar construction management software is preferred.
- Ability and willingness to travel to local project sites as needed.
Essential Physical Functions
- Ability to travel to and access active construction sites.
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods while inspecting project sites.
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and navigate scaffolding or uneven terrain when necessary.
- Ability to occasionally bend, kneel, crouch, or reach while reviewing work areas or site conditions.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and rain, during site visits.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, high-visibility vests, and protective footwear while on construction sites.
- Ability to safely navigate active construction environments that may include noise, dust, moving equipment, and other construction-related hazards.
- Ability to occasionally lift or carry materials, documents, or equipment up to 50 pounds.
