Summary

Designs and coordinates industrial instrumentation systems for oil & gas projects, creating P&IDs, datasheets, and loop diagrams while ensuring compliance with ADNOC standards and international codes.


1. Engineering & Design Support

  • Develop, review, and update instrumentation design documents, including P&IDs, instrument index, loop diagrams, and wiring diagrams.

  • Prepare detailed instrument datasheets, hook-up drawings, cable schedules, and material take-offs (MTOs).

  • Assist in defining instrumentation philosophy, control narratives, and system integration requirements (PLC/DCS/SCADA).

2. Project Execution & Coordination

  • Coordinate planning, scheduling, and execution of instrumentation activities to ensure timely project delivery.

  • Work closely with discipline engineers, construction teams, and subcontractors to resolve design issues and support field execution.

  • Review and approve vendor documents and equipment specifications related to instrumentation.

3. Procurement & Vendor Interface

  • Prepare instrument requisitions and technical bid evaluations.

  • Interface with procurement teams to track the progress of material delivery.

  • Evaluate vendor offers and support Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) for instrumentation systems.

4. Construction & Site Support

  • Provide technical guidance to site engineers and construction supervisors during installation, testing, and commissioning.

  • Participate in site inspections, loop checks, and pre-commissioning of instrumentation systems.

  • Ensure proper cable routing, termination, and installation are done as per approved drawings and standards.

5. Standards & Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with ADNOC standards, project specifications, and international codes (e.g., IEC, ISA, API, NEC).

  • Support preparation of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), method statements, and other QA/QC documentation.

6. Sustainability & Innovation

  • Collaborate with engineering teams on flare reduction, energy efficiency, and sustainability-focused instrumentation designs.

  • Explore and recommend smart instrumentation solutions to improve plant reliability and monitoring.



Requirements

Candidate Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation Engineering / Electronics / Electrical Engineering.

  • 5+ years of experience in instrumentation engineering roles, preferably in EPC projects (oil & gas or petrochemical).

  • Strong knowledge of field instruments, control valves, flow/pressure transmitters, and automation systems.

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills with ability to interface across multiple disciplines and vendors.

  • Familiarity with ADNOC approval processes and documentation standards is a strong advantage.

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, SPI (SmartPlant Instrumentation), and Microsoft Office tools.
