The Electrical Project Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising, and delivering electrical installation works for semiconductor tool installation and facility projects.
The role will manage electrical engineering activities from planning and design coordination through installation, testing, commissioning, tool hook-up, and project handover. The Electrical Project Engineer will work closely with the Project Manager, Electrical Manager, MEP teams, subcontractors, tool vendors, consultants, and client representatives to ensure that electrical works are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, quality requirements, and applicable standards.
The position requires a strong combination of electrical engineering knowledge, site execution experience, project coordination, technical problem-solving, and semiconductor/tool installation experience.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Electrical Project Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing electrical works for semiconductor tool installation projects, ensuring all activities are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and applicable standards. The role involves coordinating electrical design, installation, testing, commissioning, and tool hook-up activities; supervising subcontractors and site teams; reviewing electrical drawings and technical documentation; coordinating with tool vendors, clients, consultants, and other MEP disciplines; managing RFIs, material requirements, inspections, and project documentation; troubleshooting technical issues; and ensuring compliance with quality, HSE, and project requirements through to successful commissioning and handover.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering / Electrical & Electronic Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering with strong relevant project experience may be considered.
- Relevant professional or technical certifications are an advantage.
- Electrical competency certification recognized in Malaysia will be an advantage, depending on project requirements.
- Relevant HSE training/certifications such as LOTO, Working at Height, Confined Space, Electrical Safety, or Permit-to-Work are preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant electrical engineering/project experience.
- Experience in electrical construction, industrial facilities, semiconductor, data centre, cleanroom, manufacturing, or other high-technology projects.
- Experience managing electrical subcontractors and site installation teams.
- Experience with electrical installation, testing, commissioning, and project handover.
- Experience in semiconductor tool installation / electrical hook-up is highly preferred.
