Project Engineer (Electrical)
Key Responsibilities
- Report directly to the Project Manager and carry out project duties in accordance with project requirements and Management instructions.
- Oversee and coordinate day-to-day site operations to ensure smooth and timely execution of electrical works.
- Supervise site teams, workers and subcontractors under your charge.
- Assist the Project Manager in project planning, scheduling, manpower allocation and material coordination.
- Coordinate closely with main contractors, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and internal project teams.
- Review electrical drawings, schematics, specifications and technical requirements before site execution.
- Assist in preparing, reviewing and following up on shop drawings, material submissions and technical submissions.
- Monitor site progress and ensure works are carried out according to approved drawings, specifications and project schedules.
- Coordinate and implement approved changes, site instructions and revisions issued by the main contractor, consultant or Project Manager.
- Assist in monitoring project costs, material usage and subcontractor work progress.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, reports and records using Microsoft Excel and other project systems.
- Support the preparation of:
- a) Engineering resource and manpower requirements for ongoing and upcoming works.
- b) Progress claims and supporting reports for main contractors and consultants.
- c) Subcontractor progress assessments, work verification and claim justification.
- Coordinate testing, inspection and commissioning activities with relevant parties.
- Assist in resolving technical, coordination and site-related issues.
- Ensure project milestones, testing requirements and handover deadlines are achieved.
- Ensure all works comply with applicable Workplace Safety and Health requirements and site safety procedures.
- Promptly report accidents, unsafe conditions and major site issues to the Project Manager.
- Maintain proper site housekeeping and ensure work areas are free from unnecessary hazards.
- Perform other project-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in electrical installation or project engineering, preferably within Singapore's construction industry.
- Experience in commercial, institutional, industrial or large-scale electrical projects will be an advantage.
- Good knowledge of electrical systems, installations and local authority requirements.
- Able to interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, schematics, circuit diagrams and other engineering documents.
- Familiar with electrical testing, inspection and commissioning procedures and equipment.
- Able to troubleshoot and resolve electrical installation and system-related issues.
- Strong coordination, problem-solving and communication skills.
- Able to work independently while coordinating effectively with project teams and external parties.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Autodesk BIM/Revit or other relevant engineering software will be an advantage.
- Able to work in a fast-paced site environment and manage multiple project priorities.
