Project Engineer
JOB PURPOSE / POSITION OVERVIEW
The Project Engineer supports the successful execution of dry utility construction projects by assisting with project coordination, documentation, and financial tracking. This role works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in alignment with company standards.
The Project Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining project organization, supporting communication between stakeholders, and driving accountability across all phases of the project lifecycle.

We are seeking a driven Project Engineer to support the planning, coordination, and successful delivery of transportation and dry utility projects. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is eager to learn, and is motivated to grow within a high-performing construction team.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Coordination & Administration
Assist in the planning, execution, and closeout of dry utility construction projects (electric, telecom, gas, etc.)
Support Project Manager(s) with day-to-day project operations and coordination
Maintain accurate and organized project documentation, including contracts, drawings, and specifications
Distribute and track project documents to ensure alignment across project teams
Submittals & RFIs
Prepare, track, and manage submittals to clients and engineers
Draft and track Requests for Information (RFIs) to ensure timely resolution of design or field issues
Maintain logs for submittals, RFIs, and other project controls
Cost Control & Financial Support
Assist with project budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking
Support change order preparation and tracking for both clients and subcontractors
Review invoices and assist with pay applications and billing processes
Help identify cost impacts and support variance analysis
Scheduling & Planning
Support development and updates of project schedules
Coordinate with field teams to track progress and identify potential delays
Assist in planning material procurement and delivery timelines
Field & Team Collaboration
Maintain regular communication with Superintendents and field crews to support project needs
Conduct job site visits to gain understanding of field operations and progress
Support resolution of field issues through coordination with internal and external stakeholders
Project Closeout
Assist with project closeout processes including punch lists, as-builts, and final documentation
Ensure all required project documentation is complete and properly archived
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (KSA’s, Education, YOE)
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
3+ years of construction or related industry experience.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Experience in dry utilities, underground electrical infrastructure, or highway construction.
Experience with construction software (Bluebeam, Procore, Viewpoint, P6) is a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS (environment, noise level, public interactions)
Office working environment with occasional travel to job sites
Frequent use of telephone, computer, email, and other electronic devices to communicate with internal and external clients, trade partners, or vendors.
Lift, push or pull objects up to 25 pounds.
Will sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of shift/work day.
Ability to wear required PPE on job sites.
Job site visits require ability to maneuver around uneven terrain, large equipment, stairs.
