Project Engineer Intern - Summer 2027
NewBe an early applicantCharter Contracting Company is looking for Civil and Environmental Engineering or Construction Management students in the greater Boston area! Charter is a Boston based non-union Civil/Environmental Remediation Contractor with jobsites throughout New England. Types of projects include environmental remediation, civil construction, dredging, waterway restoration, landfill capping and closure.
Charter is currently looking for Project Engineer Co-Ops / Interns for the Summer of 2027 and beyond with the possibility of working at our job sites in MA, RI, CT, and NH.
Essential Functions
- Read and understand project plans and specifications
- Assist Estimators with various aspects of construction estimating process including quantity estimates, material take-offs from plans, subcontractor and supplier identification and pricing
- Prepare/distribute subcontractor & supplier bid packages and perform follow-up telephone and email communication
- Maintain submittal logs using specified software and expedite timely review of subcontractor & supplier bid packages and review with Estimator
- Verify accuracy of subcontractor quotes; identify conditions that differ from the contract documents and review with Estimator
- Assist with development of written proposal materials at bid phase, including basic technical writing and editing
Essential Skills and Experience
- 2nd or 3rd year Bachelor of Science candidate in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or Construction Management required
- 1-3 years of relevant experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications
- MS Office (Excel and Word) and AutoCAD experience required
