Project Engineer (Permanent Structural Steel)
Job Description:
- Assist the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, executing and monitoring permanent structural steel works from fabrication through delivery and site installation.
- Review contract drawings, structural drawings, shop drawings, specifications and approved method statements to ensure the works are carried out in accordance with project requirements.
- Coordinate with the Design, Detailing, Factory, QA/QC, Procurement, Logistics and Site teams on drawings, materials, fabrication priorities, delivery sequence and erection activities.
- Prepare and maintain project schedules, work programmes, material tracking lists and progress updates, and follow up on critical activities to meet project milestones.
- Monitor steel fabrication and site installation works, including fit-up, welding, bolting, alignment, dimensional checks, touch-up painting and rectification works.
- Plan and coordinate site activities, manpower, access, lifting arrangements, cranes and required equipment with the relevant supervisors and stakeholders.
- Liaise with clients, main contractors, consultants, Qualified Persons, subcontractors and suppliers to resolve technical, coordination and site issues in a timely manner.
- Raise and follow up on technical queries, Requests for Information (RFIs), drawing submissions, material submissions and other approvals required for the works.
- Coordinate inspections with the QA/QC team and relevant parties, and ensure that Inspection and Test Plans, inspection requests, welding records and other quality documents are properly maintained.
- Ensure compliance with approved drawings, project specifications, quality requirements, Workplace Safety and Health requirements and safe work procedures at all times.
- Coordinate the timely delivery of fabricated steel components to site in accordance with the approved erection sequence and site requirements.
- Prepare and submit project documentation, including method statements, risk assessments, work progress reports, daily reports, inspection records and as-built information, within the required timelines.
- Coordinate interfaces with temporary works and ERSS teams where applicable, including access, lifting, sequencing and site constraints affecting permanent structural steel installation.
- Attend project, technical and progress meetings, and prepare the necessary reports and follow-up action items for the client and management.
- Carry out any other duties assigned by the Project Manager or Management
Job Requirements:
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering ora related discipline.
- At least 2 years ofrelevant experience in structural steel, steel fabrication, steel erection orcivil and structural construction projects.
- Able to read and interpretstructural drawings, shop drawings, erection drawings and technicalspecifications.
- Good knowledge ofstructural steel fabrication and installation processes, including welding andbolted connections, will be an advantage.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; knowledge of AutoCAD, BIM or other relevant engineering software will be an advantage.
- Strong coordination,communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to workindependently and manage multiple priorities.
- Willing to work at project sites and attend to site requirements when necessary.
- Relevant WSQ safetycertifications and experience coordinating lifting or steel erection works willbe an added advantage.
