Project Engineer - Planner
Job Summary
You will provide expert scheduling support for projects, developing detailed schedules and resource plans to ensure on-time delivery. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage risks, track progress, and produce accurate reports that drive project success.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project to ensure accurate timeline management.
- Create tender schedules and resource plans, ensuring competitive and achievable timelines.
- Updating master schedule and enterprise reporting.
- Perform critical path and float analysis to identify schedule risks and support timely project delivery.
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and stakeholders to define work breakdown structures, milestones, and deadlines aligned with project goals.
- Ensure the schedule is aligned with the overall project goals and deadlines.
- Work with project teams to ensure resource allocation is properly reflected in the schedule.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction teams to synchronize material and equipment delivery with project timelines.
- Identify potential scheduling risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project delays.
- Document project activities, including variations, revisions, and decisions, maintaining thorough records of milestones and schedule changes.
- Provide accurate schedule forecasts to inform project management and support decision-making.
- Prepare clear schedule narratives summarizing project status and progress.
- Ensure compliance with company scheduling standard operating procedures and maintain quality assurance on project schedules.
- Analyze technical data and synthesize findings into resources for planning and policy documents at local and regional levels.
- Present qualitative and quantitative findings effectively through oral, written and graphic communication.
- Liaise with Project Managers to discuss project progress and resolve issues promptly.
- Track project jobs to ensure completion within time and budget.
- Prepare and submit comprehensive status and performance reports, including progress measurements, S-Curve updates, productivity metrics, and variance analysis.
- Ensure that the reports accurately reflect project performance, identify any deviations from the planned schedule and provide actionable insights for continuous improvement.
- Schedule shift according to E&C needs.
- Monitor workforce and resource productivity during project execution to optimize efficiency.
- Gather and manage manpower reports, equipment, and raw materials to meet production demands
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Degree in Engineering or equivalent
- Preferably 3 years of relevant experience in the Petrochemical, Oil and Gas industry, with at least 2 years as a Planner/Scheduler. Candidates without experience but willing to learn are welcome.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6 planning software, including resource loading and progress reporting
- Experience in actual construction is an added advantage
- Willingness to work at project sites
