Yolk Recruitment is supporting an established and growing engineering business specialising in process systems. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Project Engineer to join their team in Somerset.

This isn't simply a project coordination role. We're looking for someone with a strong technical engineering background who understands how process systems are designed, specified, manufactured and installed.

You'll work on a variety of industrial projects, from individual process systems through to fully integrated installations, supporting customers across manufacturing, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals and aerospace.

The position is primarily office-based, with travel to customer and supplier sites when required.

What you'll be doing
  • Managing engineering projects from initial scope and design through to manufacture, installation and commissioning.

  • Working with process equipment including pumps, valves, pipework, filtration systems, dosing equipment and associated controls.

  • Reviewing technical drawings, process schematics and P&IDs.

  • Preparing project schedules, budgets, resource plans and installation programmes.

  • Coordinating internal engineering teams, workshop personnel, contractors and suppliers.

  • Monitoring project costs, progress and risks to ensure successful delivery.

  • Providing technical support throughout manufacturing, installation, testing and commissioning.

  • Managing design changes, resolving technical challenges and maintaining communication with customers.

  • Ensuring projects meet relevant quality, safety and regulatory standards.

  • Supporting final commissioning, documentation and customer handover.

What we're looking for
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Chemical, Process, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Previous experience as a Project Engineer, Process Engineer, Mechanical Project Engineer or similar.

  • Experience delivering engineering projects involving industrial plant, process equipment or mechanical systems.

  • Good technical understanding of pumps, valves, pipework, fluid handling systems and associated controls.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and P&IDs.

  • Experience using AutoCAD or similar engineering design software.

  • Understanding of project budgets, scheduling, procurement and contractor management.

  • Strong technical problem-solving skills and the ability to make engineering decisions.

  • Good communication skills and confidence dealing directly with customers.

  • Full UK driving licence.

What's in it for you?

  • £40,000 - £60,000 basic salary, depending on experience

  • Annual Profit-Related Bonus Scheme

  • Workplace Pension

  • Health & Wellbeing Cash Plan

  • Monday to Friday working hours

  • Varied industrial engineering projects

  • Technical training and career development

  • Opportunity to work alongside experienced Project, Process and Design Engineers

  • Permanent position within an established and growing engineering business

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys combining technical design, problem-solving and project delivery, with the satisfaction of seeing projects progress from concept through to fully operational systems.
