Project Engineer – Vaasa
About the role
In this position, you will become part of a close-knit and experienced team of experts. We are looking for a long-term addition to the team: someone for whom this role offers an inspiring next step in their career, and who wants to thrive and grow in the position for years to come.
What We Offer You
- Salary: Approximately €2,800 – €3,500/month depending on your experience and background.
- A long-term career path: We offer a role where you are invested in and where you can genuinely deepen your professional skills over the long term.
- Responsibility and freedom: Once you prove your skills, you will have the freedom to independently drive your projects to completion.
- Comprehensive support: Although we expect an ability to work independently, you will not be left alone. Your supervisor and a team of top professionals will support your success, especially during the onboarding phase in the first few months.
Work tasks
Your role is not pure design work in front of a screen; instead, you will act as a dynamic technical coordinator. Working as the Project Manager's right hand, you will be responsible for the technical success of energy plant lifecycle upgrades and automation retrofits in accordance with contract specifications.
- Guide and supervise design work, review electrical and automation drawings, and ensure the technical correctness of procurements.
- Act as a knowledgeable link between designers, logistics, subcontractors, and international customers.
- Depending on the size of the projects, you may manage several (max. 10) smaller automation upgrades simultaneously or extensive plant retrofit projects (from foundations up to the MV side).
What We Are Looking For
In this role, technical theory alone is not enough; you need a professional approach and strong drive to push things forward. You are no longer a complete beginner—you have already gained valuable experience and now want to take on broader responsibility.
To succeed in the position, we expect you to have:
- A solid professional foundation: You hold a relevant technical degree (e.g., Electrical or Automation Engineering, B.Sc. or M.Sc.) and previous work experience (e.g., a few years) in industry, commissioning, field service, or automation projects.
- The right personality: You are stress-tolerant and understand that the project world evolves daily. You are a proactive expert who also knows how to justify technical choices constructively and firmly.
- Language skills: Fluent spoken and written English is mandatory. Finnish language skills are considered a major asset in teamwork.
Vaasa is the Heart of This Role
This is a role where you grow into an expert and solve challenges together with the team on site. We strongly believe that the deepest expertise and best support are transferred most effectively when working alongside more experienced colleagues. Therefore, we expect you to work mainly at the Vaasa office. We are not looking for a remote worker for this position, but rather a team player who enjoys communal daily life on site. The position also includes occasional travel to global customer sites (estimated at approx. 30 travel days per year).
