Position Summary

We are seeking a proactive anddetail-oriented Sales Estimator to join our Marine Division. The SalesEstimator will be responsible for preparing cost estimates, quotations, andtender submissions for vessel repair, refurbishment, accommodation outfitting,and interior fit-out projects. The role works closely with clients, shipyards,suppliers, and internal project teams to deliver accurate and competitiveproposals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review client enquiries, specifications, drawings, and tender documents for marine and vessel projects.
  • Conduct quantity take-offs and prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractors.
  • Prepare competitive quotations, tenders, and commercial proposals within required timelines.
  • Source and obtain quotations from suppliers and subcontractors for marine materials and services.
  • Liaise with ship owners, ship managers, shipyards, classification societies, and internal departments to clarify technical and commercial requirements.
  • Attend vessel inspections, site visits, and pre-bid meetings when required.
  • Evaluate project risks, identify cost-saving opportunities, and recommend value engineering solutions.
  • Support contract negotiations and respond to commercial and technical clarifications during the tender process.
  • Maintain estimating databases, supplier pricing, and historical cost records.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers to ensure a smooth handover of awarded projects.
  • Monitor estimated versus actual project costs and support continuous improvement of estimating accuracy.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of vessel accommodation works, insulation, flooring, ceilings, furniture, or marine outfitting is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with shipyard operations and vessel repair processes.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and Bills of Quantities (BOQ).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical, commercial, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently.

PreferredQualifications

  • Experience with tender submissions for commercial vessels, offshore platforms, naval vessels, or cruise ships.
  • Knowledge of marine standards and regulations, including IMO, SOLAS, and class society requirements.
  • Established relationships with marine suppliers and subcontractors.
