Description of Position
The Project Executive (PX) is a senior leader responsible for the successful delivery of multiple construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role provides strategic oversight to Project Managers and project teams, ensuring alignment with company goals, predictable outcomes, and exceptional client experience.
The Project Executive champions our purpose—We Build People First—by developing teams, fostering collaboration, and driving accountability while delivering high-quality projects safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project & Financial Oversight
- Oversee a portfolio of Multi-Unit projects within a region
- Ensure projects meet or exceed:
- Budget
- Schedule milestones
- Quality standards
- Lead monthly financial reviews:
- Cost-to-complete projections
- Risk identification & mitigation
- Margin improvement strategies
- Approve major buyout decisions and subcontractor awards
2. Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and develop Project Managers, APMs, and project teams
- Partner with Field Leadership (Regional Field Executive / Superintendents) to ensure alignment between field and office
- Conduct regular performance reviews, coaching, and career development planning
- Build bench strength and succession plans
3. Client Relationship Management
- Serve as executive point of contact for clients and key stakeholders
- Build and maintain long-term client relationships
- Lead executive-level project updates and issue resolution
- Support Business Development in securing repeat work
4. Preconstruction & Planning Oversight
- Partner with Preconstruction and Operations during handoff
- Ensure projects are:
- Proactively planned
- Risk-mitigated
- Properly staffed
- Validate project execution strategy aligns with:
- Productive workflow
- Sense of urgency
- Team collaboration
5. Operational Excellence
- Drive consistency in execution across all projects
- Ensure adoption of company systems (e.g., Procore, scheduling standards, cost controls)
- Lead lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives
- Monitor early warning KPIs:
- Schedule slippage
- Cost variance trends
- Subcontractor performance issues
6. Risk Management
- Identify and mitigate risks 6–9 months ahead of impact
- Lead resolution of:
- Contract disputes
- Major change orders
- Performance issues
- Ensure compliance with safety, legal, and contractual requirements
Success Metrics
- Project profitability (margin performance)
- Schedule adherence across portfolio
- Client satisfaction / repeat business
- Team engagement & retention
- Predictability of outcomes (minimal surprises)
Organizational Relationships
The Project Executive reports to Director of Construction. Normal inside contacts will include: all employees of CF Evans field, project management, and preconstruction team. Concentrated emphasis on coaching, mentoring, team building, and talent development. Outside contacts include: clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, an building inspectors.
