Project Health and Safey Manager
Exempt position. Provide Health and Safety leadership to assigned projects to ensure worker safety and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies.
Salary is dependent on location.
Duties
· Develop and administer the project HS plan, associated procedures, and updates
· Perform daily safety inspections, support work planning, and prepare job/activity hazard analyses (JHA/AHA).
· Ensure work activities comply with all health and safety regulations and the approved project HS plan.
· Maintain accurate records and documentation related to H&S activities, including OSHA logs, incident reports, training records, and permits. Assist with the digital archiving of historic hardcopy records.
· Coordinate with project manager, site superintendent, and other project staff to ensure safety considerations are at the core of all activities and operations.
· Foster a positive safety culture and drive continuous improvement initiatives related to Health & Safety.
· Ensure timely notification and reporting of health and safety incidents to senior management.
· Perform timely case management for employees injured or who become ill while performing work-related activities.
· Provide first aid to personnel who are injured and, if possible, escort those who require offsite medical care.
· Conduct incident and accident investigations, identify apparent and root causes, and develop corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
· Serve as the project's competent authority for critical safety programs, including Lockout/Tagout, fall protection, confined space entry, hot work, excavation, and other health and safety-related programs, including asbestos, lead, silica, and beryllium exposure programs.
· Identify potential hazards in the workplace and provide timely recommendations for mitigation measures.
· Analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate initial and refresher Health & Safety-related training programs.
· Complete and maintain current training and qualifications in 40 hr. HAZWOPER, radiological worker, respiratory protection, fall protection, confined space, lockout/tagout, excavation, and other job-related training.
· Administer an OSHA-required medical surveillance program. Complete and update individual employee job task analysis documentation to support medical surveillance and to document hazards unique to individual roles.
· Support project emergency preparedness and contingency plans as necessary.
