The Job

We are looking for a proactive and hands-on leader to drive project execution, lead development teams, coordinate with Japanese clients, and ensure successful delivery in terms of quality, schedule, and cost.

Reporting

• Provide accurate and timely reporting on project progress, quality status, risks, issues, and team productivity and propose corrective actions to support Project Manager decision-making.

Team Management

• Directly manage and coordinate a team of approximately 5–6 members, including task assignment, daily follow-up, progress monitoring, issue identification, and daily execution control.
• Translate project plans, priorities, and management decisions into actionable tasks and ensure effective execution by team members.

Planning

• Support project planning activities, including effort estimation, work breakdown structure (WBS) creation, task decomposition, and detailed work planning.

Quality Management

• Take responsibility for the quality and timely delivery of outputs produced by assigned team members through reviews, defect identification, corrective guidance, and verification of improvement results.
• Lead testing activities, including test planning, test design reviews, defect analysis, and quality assurance throughout the development lifecycle.

Issue Management

• Identify project risks, quality issues, schedule deviations, and resource concerns, and report them proactively with proposed mitigation actions.
• Identify root causes of defects and project issues, recommend preventive actions, and drive continuous quality improvement.

Customer Relationship & Communication

• Manage requirement, design, and testing-related inquiries with customers, ensuring timely clarification, tracking, and resolution of project questions and issues.
• Communicate directly with Japanese customers and stakeholders in project meetings, progress reviews, issue discussions, and technical discussions in Japanese.

Coaching

• Coach and mentor team members, fostering technical growth and continuous improvement.

Continuous improvement activities

• Contribute to process improvement initiatives and promote best practices in software development and project execution.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by Management.

Your Skills and Experience

• At least 7 years of experience in software development, including 2+ years in a leadership role such as Project Leader, Team Leader, Technical Leader, or BrSE.
• Proven experience leading a software development team of 5 or more members.
• Strong ownership mindset with the ability to drive project execution and ensure team accountability.
• Demonstrated ability to create and present project status reports covering progress, quality, risks, and issues for management decision-making.
• Experience in effort estimation, work planning, task breakdown, and WBS creation.
• Good understanding of project planning, quality management, risk management, resource coordination, and software development lifecycle management.
• Proven ability to manage software quality throughout the development lifecycle, including deliverable reviews, issue identification, corrective guidance, and verification of improvement actions.
• Experience in test planning, test design, test review, and quality assurance activities throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Ability to analyze project status, identify potential risks and issues, and propose practical corrective actions
• Experience developing enterprise applications using Java Spring Framework, C# ASP.NET, or equivalent technologies.
• Hands-on experience in detailed design (DD), design review, and technical specification preparation for enterprise application development.
• Ability to understand system architecture, review technical solutions, and participate in technical discussions with customers and project members.
• Experience conducting defect analysis, root cause analysis, and corrective and preventive actions for software quality improvement.
• Experience managing customer inquiries, requirement clarifications, and Q&A communication throughout project execution.
• Japanese proficiency equivalent to JLPT N2 or above, with the ability to communicate independently with Japanese customers in project meetings, progress reviews, issue discussions, and technical discussions.
• Familiarity with Waterfall and Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced offshore development environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• PMP, ACP, or equivalent project management certification is a plus.
• Hands-on experience in domains such as Healthcare / Retail is an advantage.
• Experience in functional design (FD) activities.
• Experience utilizing AI-assisted development tools to improve software development productivity, quality, design activities, testing, or project execution.
• Experience working directly with Japanese customers.
