Project Manager/AM (tunneling project)

Summary

Manage and coordinate daily tunnel and underground civil construction activities in Singapore, liaising with consultants, subcontractors, authorities and internal teams to deliver the project safely, on time and within budget.

As a Project Manager / Assistant Project Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of a major tunnel project in Singapore, overseeing construction activities to ensure works are completed safely, to the required quality standards, within programme and budget.

You will work closely with consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, authorities and internal project teams to coordinate site activities and drive the project towards key milestones.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate daily construction activities for tunnel and underground civil works, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements and project requirements.
  • Liaise closely with consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and relevant authorities to resolve technical, construction and site coordination issues.
  • Review construction drawings, details, specifications, defects and variations, ensuring discrepancies are identified and resolved before execution and subcontractor payment certification.
  • Plan, monitor and forecast subcontractor work progress, including manpower, resources, work sequencing, site logistics and weekly work programmes.
  • Conduct regular site and coordination meetings to ensure construction activities are aligned with the overall project schedule and key milestones.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance, productivity and quality, taking proactive action to address delays, site constraints and construction issues.
  • Coordinate interfaces between different civil, structural and specialist underground works, ensuring smooth execution and minimal disruption to the project programme.
  • Work closely with the project team to identify construction risks, programme delays and technical issues, and develop practical solutions.
  • Provide guidance, coaching and supervision to project team members and support effective manpower and resource planning.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance site productivity, construction efficiency, quality and safety.

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant construction experience, preferably with a main contractor.
  • Experience in tunnel, underground, MRT, LTA or major civil infrastructure projects will be highly advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of underground construction and civil/structural works, including construction sequencing and site coordination.
  • Proven experience managing subcontractors, project milestones, programme and deliverables.
  • Good stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with consultants, subcontractors, authorities and internal teams.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication and leadership skills.
  • Candidates with experience working on ongoing Singapore tunnel or major infrastructure projects will have an advantage.
