Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to oversee the planning, execution and successful delivery of electrical power projects. The Project Manager will be responsible for managing projects from award through engineering, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning and final handover, ensuring that projects are completed safely, on time, within budget and in accordance with contractual and technical requirements.
The role will involve close coordination with clients, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors and internal project teams.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the overall execution of electrical power projects involving MV/LV equipment, transformers, switchgear and LV switchboards.
Plan and monitor project schedule, budget, manpower, procurement and resources to achieve project targets.
Coordinate with clients, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution.
Review project specifications, drawings, technical submissions, vendor documents and other project deliverables.
Oversee installation, testing, commissioning and project handover activities.
Monitor project costs, variations, claims and additional works where applicable.
Identify and resolve project, technical and operational issues and manage project risks effectively.
Ensure compliance with contract requirements, applicable IEC standards, quality and safety requirements.
Lead project meetings and provide regular progress updates and reports to Management and clients.
Lead and guide Project Engineers and other project team members to achieve project objectives.
Ensure proper completion of project documentation, as-built drawings, test reports and handover documents.
Required Competencies and Certifications
Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in electrical project engineering/project management, preferably in the power or construction environment.
Good knowledge of MV/LV electrical systems, transformers, switchgear and LV switchboards.
Strong understanding of project planning, scheduling, cost control, procurement and contract requirements.
Good knowledge of applicable IEC codes and standards.
Strong leadership, communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
Good planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and project scheduling tools.
Self-motivated, resourceful and able to work independently and lead a project team.
Class 3 driving licence is preferable.
Preferred Competencies and Qualifications
Experience managing projects from engineering and procurement through installation, testing, commissioning and handover.
Experience in power projects involving transformers, MV switchgear and LV switchboards.
Experience in managing clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors.
Experience in project costing, tender preparation, technical proposals, variations and claims.
Project management certification such as PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent would be an advantage.
Experience in testing and commissioning of electrical power systems would be an advantage.
