Your role
The Business Unit Surveillance is looking for a Project Manager (PM) to lead the implementation and commissioning phase of our Naval Combat Systems in Finland.
As a Project Manager, you carry the overall responsibility for the successful delivery and commissioning of the integrated Combat System (CS), ensuring that all sensors, weapon systems, and the Combat Management System (CMS) are fully operational on the ship platform. The role is a senior position where you manage the project's transition from the design phase to integration and acceptance on the ships up to the project’s final acceptance. You are responsible for ensuring that the project is delivered successfully as per agreements with regards to time, budget, scope, and quality, with a specific focus on ensuring the integrated CS is fully prepared for final acceptance.
To succeed in this role, you understand the complexities of system-to-platform integration and the importance of coordinating multiple stakeholders, including the shipyard, the customer, and internal technical teams. You enjoy the challenge of leading the final verification phases of a project and enabling teams to perform the installation, set-to-work, and acceptance testing in a creative and dynamic atmosphere.
The main tasks in the project work are:
- Overall Responsibility: Lead the project delivery with a specific focus on the commissioning and implementation phase.
- Acceptance Testing: Manage the execution, coordination, and reporting of Harbour Acceptance Tests (HAT) and Sea Acceptance Tests (SAT).
- System Readiness: Oversee the Set-To-Work (STW) activities and ensure all Saab Supplied Equipment (SSE) is correctly installed, aligned, and ready for operation on the platform.
- Platform Integration: Coordinate Whole-of-Ship (WoS) engineering support to assist the customer and shipyard in the physical integration of the integrated CS with the ship platform.
- Risk Management: Identify, manage, and mitigate project risks using the project's risk register to ensure timely delivery.
- Technical Governance: Lead the problem reporting process, chair the System Problem Report (SPR) board, and manage Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) to ensure all technical issues are resolved before final delivery.
- Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary point of contact for the customer and shipyard regarding the commissioning schedule and delivery milestones.
The role requires frequent travel to Saab Sweden and presence on the shipyard/vessel.
