Project Manager – Commercial Construction

Balicore Construction, a subsidiary of The Miller Group is seeking a Project Manager for our construction unit, located in Virginia Beach, VA. The Project Manager will be responsible for multiple projects ranging in value from under $1 million up to $30 million, from inception through to completion. Pre-Construction experience is a plus. Strong leadership, problem solving, project management, and communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Meet financial, schedule, and quality benchmarks as well as client goals
  • Provide leadership, develop staff and act as a liaison to owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Participate in planning of project budgets and RFP packages.
  • Oversee job site safety and quality control
  • Coordinate and collaborate with Superintendent and site team on scheduling, sub-coordination, and material delivery
  • Prepare and update master schedule, as required
  • Establish and communicate job processes, including RFIs, RCOs, owner invoices, provide approval prior to submission.
  • Conduct project meetings and OAC meetings.
  • Prepare owner and miscellaneous invoices including retention management.
  • Update cost reports on a timely basis and attend all financial operations meetings.
  • Manage job(s) close-out in a timely and cost-effective manner, including final punch list preparation.
  • Supervise and develop project team and provide training to assistant PMs, project engineers and project administrators, and including employee reviews.

  • 5-10 years’ experience in the construction industry managing all divisions of "ground-up" Commercial projects
  • 3+ years of experience managing projects more than $10M
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Building Construction, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent.
  • LEED AP designation preferred.
  • Design Build Experience, DBIA designation preferred but not required.
  • Experience running multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Relationship builder and business development oriented.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, CMIC Construction Management Software.
  • Working knowledge of estimating, sub buyout, scope, risk management, scheduling and change orders.
  • Understanding of project accounting and ability to regularly update/manage cost reports.
  • Team leader committed to training with a passion for helping team members reach their potential.

Essential Physical Functions

  • Ability to travel to and access active construction sites.
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods while inspecting project sites.
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and navigate scaffolding or uneven terrain when necessary.
  • Ability to occasionally bend, kneel, crouch, or reach while reviewing work areas or site conditions.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and rain, during site visits.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, high-visibility vests, and protective footwear while on construction sites.
  • Ability to safely navigate active construction environments that may include noise, dust, moving equipment, and other construction-related hazards.
  • Ability to occasionally lift or carry materials, documents, or equipment up to 50 pounds.
