Job Role: Project Manager – Data Engineering

Overview

Join a collaborative, high-impact team driving data-driven initiatives for leading clients. We are seeking an experienced Project Manager based in Los Angeles, CA to lead data initiatives. The ideal candidate brings strong consulting experience, proven project management expertise, and a background in leading data-focused teams. This is a hybrid role requiring a local presence in Los Angeles.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery of data projects, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and quality standards are met.
• Oversee and mentor data teams, fostering collaboration and accountability across onshore and offshore locations.
• Manage project plans, budgets, timelines, and executive status reporting.
• Conduct initial data discovery and analysis to support new initiatives.
• Partner with business teams to gather, define, and validate requirements and use cases.
• Facilitate workshops, requirement sessions, retrospectives, and stakeholder alignment.
• Proactively identify risks, issues, and dependencies; develop and drive mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and vendors to resolve blockers and maintain project momentum.
• Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance delivery and governance.
• Ensure effective use of Jira and Confluence for project tracking, documentation, and collaboration.

Qualifications

• 6–8 years of project management experience, preferably leading data/engineering teams.
• Strong expertise with Jira and Confluence.
• Hands-on experience in Databricks and SQL for data analysis/reporting.
• Solid understanding of project governance, reporting, and risk management practices.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including executive-level engagement.
• Experience working across complex, cross-functional organizational structures.
• Consulting or client-facing background strongly preferred.

Nice to Have

• Experience in financial services or asset management.
• Knowledge of Power BI and OneStream for reporting and visualization.
• Familiarity with data pipelines, ETL workflows, and cloud environments (Azure).
• Exposure to process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma).
