Project Manager – Data Migration & Business Change (Underwriting/Pricing)
Summary
Hybrid role managing data migration and business change for an insurance underwriting/pricing data mart, using SQL, Python, and cloud platforms to ensure accurate data flow and transformation.
About the Role
This is a hybrid role sitting within the Underwriting function in the Technical Transformation team, combining data engineering expertise with business change management capability. The successful candidate will play a critical role in a wider application transformation programme, ensuring the Underwriting/Pricing data mart requirements are clearly defined and that data continues to flow successfully into the data marts throughout and after the transition. In addition, they will support the UW function’s longer-term migration to a new target data platform.
The application transformation programme is already up and running for several months, with a recent scope change regarding chain of implementation/execution roll-out.
Key Responsibilities
Define and document the requirements for the current pricing data mart as part of the application transformation.
Ensure data is successfully fed back into the pricing data marts during and after the migration.
Ingest data files into the Pricing Datamart, covering claims data, policy and product data, third-party administrator data, and ad-hoc file uploads.
Validate incoming data upon delivery, checking for completeness, accuracy, and conformance to expected formats before loading into the Datamart.
Identify, investigate, and resolve data quality issues, escalating delivery problems where necessary.
Clean and transform raw source data to meet Pricing Datamart standards and ensure consistency across data sets.
Write, maintain, and optimise SQL and Python scripts to support ingestion, transformation, and validation workflows.
Support the existing pricing team by ensuring timely, accurate, and reliable data availability within the Datamart.
Support the design and implementation of data pipelines and integrations between the new platform and existing data infrastructure.
Contribute to the longer-term strategy for migrating the UW function to a new target data platform.
