Duke's is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our team in either Pittsboro, NC, or Virginia Beach, VA.
In this role, you will own scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, customer communication, resource planning, documentation, and field execution through assigned Superintendents and Foremen. This highly collaborative role partners with Operations, Safety, Fleet, Accounting, Sales, Shared Services, and Customer Stakeholders to deliver safe, efficient, profitable, and high-quality work.
You will work in both office and field environments including active job sites, municipal infrastructure, traffic areas, construction equipment, and in varying weather conditions. Project-site visits and travel are required as needed, and occasional evening, weekend, or emergency support may be necessary.

Reporting to the Area Operations Manager, you will:
- Lead project execution: Own assigned projects from award through closeout, develop execution plans, align scope and schedules, and ensure work meets company and customer requirements.
- Manage financial performance: Build and maintain budgets, forecasts, cost projections, and production targets while monitoring labor, equipment, subcontractor, material, and other costs.
- Control scope, schedule, and resources: Review contracts and specifications, manage changes and approvals, coordinate resources, and address delays or constraints early.
- Lead field execution: Set clear expectations for safety, quality, productivity, customer service, and project performance; coach Superintendents and Foreman holding field leaders accountable for results.
- Manage customer relationships: Serve as a primary customer contact, communicate progress and solutions, resolve concerns promptly, and help build lasting relationships.
- Ensure safety, quality, and compliance: Reinforce safety expectations, review performance, support audits and inspections, and correct issues before they affect people or project outcomes.
- Maintain reporting and documentation: Keep accurate, audit-ready records and track milestones, production, financial results, risks, commitments, and corrective actions.
- Support company operations: Partner with operational leaders and support teams to implement company initiatives and improve processes.

- Have at least five (5) years of project management, operations leadership, or related experience
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Project Management, Operations Management, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered
- Have demonstrated success managing project budgets, forecasts, schedules, contracts, scope changes, customers, field teams, and operational resources
- Have strong financial, analytical, problem-solving, business judgment, communication, coaching, and customer relationship skills
- Have the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
- Have working knowledge of safety requirements, operational compliance, DOT regulations, and industry best practices
- Have technical proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), SharePoint, OneDrive, ArcGIS Mapping, project management platforms (MS Project or similar), and business systems (ERPs)
- Have experience in construction, municipal services, utilities, environmental services, infrastructure, water/wastewater, or a related industry
- Have supervisory or people-leadership experience
- Hold a PMP and/or PE, preferred
- Have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Are willing to undergo background check, MVR check, and pre-employment drug screen
- Are able and willing to travel up to 15% to job site as needed via car and airplane including out of town, state, weekends and/or evenings
