Project Manager, Energy & Resources Environmental Services
The Opportunity
McElhanney is seeking an experienced Project Manager, Energy & Resources Environmental Services to help lead the growth of our practice within the energy, mining, natural resource, and industrial sectors across Western Canada.
This is a strategic role for a professional who combines strong technical and project delivery expertise with a passion for business development and client relationship management. The successful candidate will play a key role in growing McElhanney's presence in the Energy & Resources market by identifying opportunities, developing client relationships, and leading multidisciplinary environmental projects from proposal through completion.
You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior staff, and contribute to practical environmental solutions that balance regulatory requirements and project objectives. Working with industry, Indigenous Nations, private-sector, and municipal clients, you will help develop practical environmental solutions that balance ecological stewardship, regulatory requirements, and project objectives.
What You’ll Do
Manage environmental assessment, permitting, baseline studies, monitoring, and regulatory compliance projects.
Build and maintain relationships with energy, mining, natural resource, and industrial clients.
Identify opportunities, prepare proposals, and support project pursuits.
Lead multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Oversee project scope, financial performance, risk management, and quality assurance.
Collaborate with technical specialists and regional leaders to deliver integrated solutions.
Mentor junior and intermediate staff and contribute to team development.
Represent McElhanney at industry events and within professional networks.
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resource Management, or a related discipline.
Professional designation such as RPBio., PGeo., PEng., PAg., or equivalent.
10+ years of experience managing environmental projects within the energy, mining, natural resources, infrastructure, or industrial sectors.
Strong understanding of environmental permitting and regulatory processes in Western Canada.
Experience managing budgets, schedules, contracts, and multidisciplinary project teams.
Demonstrated client relationship and proposal development experience.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Experience working with Indigenous communities is considered an asset.
What Can We Offer You?
The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $125,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
