Role Description:

We are looking for an experienced IT Project Manager to lead a major technology project for a leading Indian bank in Mumbai. The role involves managing the full lifecycle of IT initiatives, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with banking regulations. You will also work closely with a team of engineers, product managers & research associates across other projects related to sustainability, ESG, or climate risk—areas of growing importance to the client. This is an on-site role that combines technical execution, strong client engagement with expectation management, risk mitigation and team leadership in a dynamic environment in an evolving domain.

Key Responsibilities:

● Project Delivery & Execution

○ Oversee end-to-end build & deployment of IT solutions across banking systems such as core banking, loan origination, regulatory reporting, and risk management platforms.

○ Build project plans, define milestones, manage budgets, and ensure timely execution. Skilled with the ability to dynamically modify project plans as per client/team requirements.

○ Deliver both traditional and sustainability-focused solutions, such as ESG reporting or climate risk analytics tools.

● Client & Stakeholder Engagement

○ Serve as the main liaison with senior stakeholders at the client’s Mumbai office.

○ Maintain strong relationships, manage expectations, and align outcomes with business goals.

• Strong communication skills with cross functional internal stakeholders from product, technology & subject matter experts
  

● Compliance & Risk Management

○ Ensure full adherence to the bank’s policies and RBI regulations on IT governance, data security, and outsourcing.

○ Translate business and compliance requirements into detailed technical implementation roadmaps.

• In context of broader projects you may handle, be familiar with other compliance requirements such as ISO Audits, SOC2 requirements etc
  

○ Proactively identify and manage risks with the team.

● Technical Project Management

○ Coordinate integration of new systems with legacy banking platforms, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

○ Manage vendor and OEM engagements for hardware and software deployment, ensuring adherence to SLAs and security standards.

○ Drive infrastructure sizing, performance benchmarking, and disaster recovery (DC/DR) planning tailored for high-availability banking environments.

○ Ensure technical documentation, configuration management, and knowledge transfer for long-term system maintainability.

○ Collaborate with information security and compliance teams to embed RBI and bank-specific IT governance requirements into design and deployment.

• In the context of broader projects you may handle, ability to work in evolving product priorities to build and deliver on other projects & platforms.
  

• Having worked & lead teams in Agile Scrum lifecycle
  

● Sustainability & ESG (Preferred)

○ Apply or develop knowledge in ESG, sustainability, or climate risk.

○ Identify opportunities to integrate these themes into IT projects and stay updated on emerging regulations.

Requirements

Required Skills and Experience:

● Experience & Skills

○ 7–15 years in IT project management, with exposure to banking or financial services.

○ Proven success delivering large-scale software development projects in regulated environments.

• Agile planning & execution with team leadership experience is a must..
  

• Ability to adapt to shifting priorities, risk management and aligning cross functional teams
  

○ Client-facing as well as stakeholder alignment experience with strong negotiation skills is essential.

○ Hands-on expertise in integration strategies (APIs, middleware, messaging systems, data migration) for connecting new and legacy banking systems.

• Proven experience in building, deploying and managing IT solutions in Indian banks is a must.
  

• Familiarity with RBI regulations, banking IT governance policies, and data security standards is a good to have.
