The Project Manager III - Engineering is a professional role responsible for managing designated segments of transit-related capital projects involving facilities, systems, structures, light rail construction, and systems installation. This role oversees design, construction, testing, inspection, documentation, consultant and contractor coordination, and project issue resolution. Job Responsibilities Under the direction of leadership, supports assigned capital project planning, coordination, and delivery. Manages the design process to ensure consultants follow BSD's design criteria. Ensures relevant BSD departments review periodic design submittals and address all comments received. Ensures consultants comply with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements and obtain necessary permits and agreements. Determines that work performed and materials furnished comply with contract documents. Documents changes in the field to contract drawings and ensures changes are incorporated into the record drawings. Conducts or coordinates witness, inspection, and factory acceptance testing at factories or fabrication plants and documents observed test results in inspection records. Ensures contractors comply with safety and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) plans. Assists in preparing construction and design cost estimates. Maintains a Daily Inspection Diary documenting inspection, testing, management activity, site location, contractor contacts, progress, workforce, materials, and equipment on site. Prepares final inspection punch lists and ensures completion of all work noted on the punch lists. Identifies materials requiring testing, ensures test results are reviewed, evaluated, and reported, and confirms required remedial action is taken. Implements coordination of project plans, schedules, and related project activities; reports delays and problems promptly; takes appropriate action; and ensures activities align with organization goals. Reviews plans and specifications to determine adequacy for construction and adherence to acceptable construction standards and practices. Coordinates with utility companies on utility relocation, obtains estimates, prepares purchase requisitions, monitors progress, and approves payment. Monitors and reviews consultant work, meets with BSD management and staff to advise on work activities, and resolves problems affecting scheduled project completion. Develops plans for unexpected situations, new developments, business environment changes, and emergencies; anticipates events and responds to changing project conditions.
