Project Manager, Industrial Controls Implementation
Who we are
With its A.I.-powered robotic technology platform, Symbotic is changing the way consumer goods move through the supply chain. Intelligent software orchestrates advanced robots in a high-density, end-to-end system – reinventing warehouse automation for increased efficiency, speed and flexibility.
What we need
Symbotic is seeking for an ICS Implementation Project Manager to join our Industrial Controls Program Management team within our Industrial Controls organization. Your job will be to schedule, scope, and plan PLC update activities, coordinate closely with live site operations teams, and facilitate a robust Jira-driven triage and intake process.
What we do
The Industrial Controls Program Management team is part of the Industrial Controls organization, which is responsible for developing, deploying, and supporting controls products, software, and systems for Symbotic’s automated warehouse solutions. The team focuses on scoping, scheduling, and orchestrating controls release activities and live-site issue triage so our rapidly scaling fleet of customer sites remains stable, predictable, and high-performing.
What you'll do
- Own the end-to-end planning, scheduling, and execution roadmap for industrial controls (PLC) updates, hotfixes, and sustaining releases across live operational sites.
- Facilitate the triage and intake process for live-site issues, enhancement requests, and field escalations, ensuring proper backlog hygiene, technical scoping, prioritization, and SLA tracking in Jira.
- Act as the primary cross-functional liaison with Site Operations leads and cross-functional partners to negotiate maintenance windows, rollout schedules, and pre- and post-update verification procedures.
- Enforce rigorous Management of Change protocols, rollback strategies, and operational gating criteria to minimize unplanned operational downtime during controls deployments.
- Establish repeatable planning and release cadences that minimize site disruption and support smooth, predictable rollouts.
- Standardize rollout runbooks, build visibility dashboards, and refine post-release retrospectives to continuously streamline fleetwide controls deployments.
- Coordinate across Controls Engineering, Software Release, software quality assurance, and Site Operations to turn operational requests, maintenance items, and bug fixes into structured, risk-mitigated release windows.
What you'll need
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience or equivalent work experience.
- Experience in project engineering, release coordination, or project management within industrial automation, robotics, warehouse automation, or complex electromechanical systems.
- Advanced proficiency in Jira and Confluence for intake workflows, triage facilitation, sprint and release tracking, and cross-functional reporting.
- Proven experience coordinating complex, multi-stakeholder release schedules, site maintenance windows, and structured change management protocols.
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills, with a demonstrated ability to align engineering, software quality assurance, and 24/7 site operations teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, such as Electrical, Mechanical, Controls, Systems, or Computer Science, or equivalent practical technical experience.
- Practical experience or familiarity with industrial PLC platforms, including Rockwell Automation Studio 5000, controls commissioning, systems integration, Agile methodologies, or formal project management frameworks is preferred.
Our Environment
- Up to 25% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver's license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client locations and company HQ.
- Employees may be required to use a personal credit card for business travel expenses, which are reimbursed based on the program guidelines. Eligible employees may receive a corporate credit card based on role and travel requirements, but a personal credit card may be needed during onboarding until the corporate card is issued.
