Project Manager – Underground Utilities

Position Summary

The Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing heavy civil construction projects involving underground wet utilities. This position serves as the primary point of contact for clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams while ensuring projects are executed efficiently and profitably.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Manage multiple underground utility construction projects from award through completion.

Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, forecasts, and cost controls.

Review contracts, specifications, plans, and project documents to ensure compliance.

Coordinate with superintendents, foremen, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and owners.

Monitor project productivity, labor, equipment, and material costs.

Lead project meetings and maintain strong communication with stakeholders.

Prepare and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, pay applications, and project documentation.

Identify project risks and develop proactive solutions.

Ensure projects comply with company safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Mentor Project Engineers and assist with their professional development.

Support estimating and preconstruction efforts as needed.

Maintain positive client relationships while representing Kinkaid Civil Construction professionally.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent heavy civil construction experience will be considered.

Minimum 5 years of Project Management experience in heavy civil construction.

Demonstrated experience managing underground wet utility projects including water, sewer, and storm drain.

Strong understanding of construction contracts, scheduling, budgeting, and cost management.

Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers, and project teams.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software such as Procore, HCSS, or similar platforms.

Strong communication, leadership, negotiation, and organizational skills.

Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Preferred Requirements

Experience with municipal, public works, and private development projects.

Knowledge of Bluebeam, AGTEK, HeavyBid, or Primavera P6.

OSHA 30 Certification.

Experience working in Arizona heavy civil construction.

Previous experience mentoring Project Engineers or Assistant Project Managers.
