Project Manager (Kuala Lumpur-Based)
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage overall project execution schedule, budget, scope and deliverables.
- Coordinate with clients, EPC contractors, consultants, authorities and internal teams.
- Track project progress and provide regular updates to management.
- Identify project risks, delays and issues, and propose practical solutions.
- Ensure proper project documentation, approvals and records are maintained.
- Oversee site activities and ensure works are carried out according to approved drawings, method statements and project requirements.
- Coordinate internal kick-off meetings, external kick-off meetings, site readiness reviews and progress meetings.
- Monitor contractor performance, manpower, materials and work quality.
- Support resolution of technical, site and coordination issues.
- Ensure contractors comply with project HSE, quality and regulatory requirements.
- Support HSE inspections, risk assessments, permit-to-work requirements and corrective action closures.
- Ensure safe execution of high-risk activities including work at height, lifting, electrical works and roof works.
- Coordinate with HSE team for site inspections, toolbox talks, risk assessments, method statement reviews and closure of HSE findings.
- Act as the key project contact for client coordination and project updates.
- Manage client expectations professionally and escalate key matters when required.
- Coordinate with local authorities, building owners, landlords and other stakeholders where applicable.
- Coordinate testing, commissioning, inspections and authority approvals.
- Ensure punch list items are tracked and closed.
- Support project handover to Operations and Maintenance team.
- Ensure final documentation, as-built drawings, warranties and completion records are compiled.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree or diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 5-8 years of project management experience, preferably in solar, renewable energy, electrical, construction or infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint and project reporting tools.
- Experience managing contractors, subcontractors, site progress, client coordination and project close-out.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, site constraints, document control, progress tracking and project reporting.
- Working knowledge of Malaysian project requirements, including ST / Energy Commission, DOSH, CIDB, local authority and utility-related coordination will be an advantage.
- Solar rooftop or utility-scale solar project experience.
- Knowledge of electrical systems, Experience with testing and commissioning, energization readiness and handover to O&M.
- Experience working with clients, EPC contractors and consultants.
- Able to travel to project sites in Malaysia and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
