The MEP project manager plays an essential role in construction and renovation, focusing on the coordination and completion of mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP), HVAC, BMS/FMCS systems. This position involves overseeing the planning, design, and implementation of MEP systems to ensure they meet project
specifications, budgets, and deadlines. By serving as a liaison between architects, engineers, contractors and clients, the MEP Project Manager ensures that all MEP installations are completed to code and operate efficiently as part of the overall building design.
Their expertise not only helps create safe and functional environments but also supports sustainability and energy efficiency goals. Through meticulous project management, they maintain a balance between operational requirements and aesthetic considerations, ensuring that each project achieves its goals smoothly and efficiently.
MEP Project Manager operates in a dynamic environment that combines an office environment with on-site project management. Their workspaces are often mobile, moving from an office equipped with cutting-edge design and project management software to construction sites where they oversee the practical application of their plans. This role requires adaptability during working hours, with extended schedules to meet project deadlines, requiring a balance between traditional office hours and on-site demands.
The position requires bilingual proficiency in English and Chinese. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems on-site. This role requires strong technical skills, project management experience, and leadership abilities to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Job description:
- On-site leadership: Oversee the work of engineers, technicians, and contractors to ensure project objectives are met.
- Technical expertise: Provide technical guidance and support for all mechanical and electrical aspects of the project.
- Project management: Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and scope.
- Quality assurance: Ensure all work meets project specifications and industry standards.
- Problem-solving: Identify and resolve technical issues, including failure analysis and troubleshooting.
- Stakeholder management: Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and internal teams.
- Safety management: Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and procedures.
- Continuous improvement: Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains.
Technical Qualification:
- HVAC System Design: Planning and supervising the installation, maintenance, and optimization of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems is a design responsibility weak. This is to ensure that systems meet sustainability and regulatory compliance goals through in-depth technical knowledge of system components, energy saving strategies, and integration of Innovative solutions suitable for each building project.
- Electrical load calculation: Verifying building’s electrical needs to ensuring the electrical system operates efficiently and meets safety standards. Crosschecking on components analysis such as lighting, heating, and cooling systems to design a comprehensive plan that fits the project’s energy needs without making the electrical infrastructure too large or too small.
- Plumbing Coordination: Integrating complex piping configurations with other mechanical, electrical, and structural components requires a meticulous approach. It is essential to optimize the use of space, meet building codes and facilitate an efficient installation process, which directly impacts the success and functionality of the project.
- Building Information Modeling (BIM): Coordination and integration of complex mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems into a unified model is critical. It promotes seamless collaboration across disciplines, maximizes design efficiency and minimizes costly errors during construction.
- Contract Negotiation: It is essential to achieve favorable terms consistent with project objectives, budget constraints and deadlines. A thorough understanding of technical specifications, legal regulations and cost management strategies is required to protect the interests of all stakeholders.
- Quality Control Standards: Meticulous attention to detail and a proactive approach are required to ensure projects meet or exceed established standards. Knowledge of industry regulations, effective coordination with stakeholders, and implementation of continuous improvement processes throughout the project lifecycle are essential.
- Bachelors or Masters Degree qualifications in Mechanical and/or Electrical
- Engineering or similar in building services. Built up working experience can be considered
- Minimum of 15 years' experience in project execution and management.
- Experience and knowledge of all of the main HSE project management concepts, tools and techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced and high-pressure environment, to meet often tight deadlines, and to work pro-actively as part of a committed team.
- Strong leadership, communication & interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of relevant local and international codes, standards, and regulations.
- Computer/IT knowledge of BIM Coordination tools, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project tool, AutoCAD, PDF management tools, Conference call and Internet skills.
- Proven experience in project management, particularly in the context of our large works, new build projects or milestone projects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Good problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Attention to detail and ability in interdisciplinary management
- Bilingual in English and Mandarin.
- Based in Taiwan. Willing to relocate to the project site.
