About the Role
As a Project Manager, Outpatients FSA, you will play a key role in leading projects that support the improvement of outpatient First Specialist Assessment (FSA) services across Health New Zealand. Working as part of a national programme, you will partner with regional and district teams, clinical leaders, subject matter experts, and senior stakeholders to implement initiatives that improve access, timeliness, and patient outcomes.
This is a varied and impactful role where you will oversee project planning, delivery, governance reporting, risk management, and stakeholder engagement. You will work closely with service delivery teams to identify opportunities for improvement, support the implementation of change initiatives, and ensure sustainable benefits are embedded into day-to-day operations. Your ability to build strong relationships, navigate complex environments, and maintain momentum across multiple workstreams will be critical to success.
About the Team and Location
You will join a national team focused on improving planned care performance and delivering better outcomes for patients waiting to access specialist services. The team works collaboratively with stakeholders across Health New Zealand to support service improvements, enhance patient access, and drive consistency across the health system.
This role offers the opportunity to work with colleagues and providers throughout New Zealand while contributing to initiatives that have a direct impact on healthcare delivery and patient experience nationwide.
About you
You will be an experienced project management professional with relevant tertiary qualifications and at least five years' experience in health service development, programme delivery, health funding, commissioning, or service operations. You will have a strong track record of delivering complex projects, managing stakeholder relationships, and supporting successful organisational change.
You will bring:
- Experience leading and delivering complex projects within healthcare or large service delivery environments.
- Strong project management skills, including planning, governance, risk management, reporting, and benefits realisation.
- Proven ability to build effective relationships and collaborate with diverse stakeholders across multiple organisations and regions.
- Experience supporting change initiatives and embedding improvements into operational service delivery.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly to executive and governance audiences.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach, with strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience working collaboratively with Māori, Pacific, and other priority populations to support equitable service delivery.
- A commitment to continuous improvement, innovation, and delivering high-quality outcomes for patients and whānau.
