Position Summary:
The Project Manager – Uptime serves as a subject matter expert (SME) in commercial fleet equipment, playing a critical role in diagnosing and resolving complex equipment issues across Penske's fleet while evaluating and validating emerging technologies and products. This position is responsible for identifying root causes of recurring equipment challenges — including specification misalignment, OEM component failures, elevated maintenance costs, and increased labor requirements. The Project Manager's involvement in new products will be focused on the maintenance department’s interaction of the technology; IE techs and support roles. The ultimate outcomes of this position are to deliver value-added equipment solutions to the customer, improve repair efficiency, reduce vehicle downtime, and lower total maintenance costs.
Major Responsibilities:
• Lead structured root cause analysis on fleet equipment issues and develop corrective action plans to drive resolution
• Evaluate emerging technologies and products through hands-on testing, providing data-supported recommendations for potential fleet adoption to improve Customer Experience
• Identify gaps in existing maintenance processes and develop standardized procedures that improve repair efficiency
• Design and implement proactive repair strategies aimed at minimizing vehicle downtime and improving overall fleet availability
• Other projects and tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Minimum 4 years of experience in the automotive, diesel, or commercial trucking industry
• HD Truck OEM Technician Certification strongly preferred
• Strong working knowledge of heavy-duty truck mechanical and electrical systems
• Proficient in navigating OEM diagnostic platforms, service information systems, and technical documentation
• Ability to collect, interpret, and act on fleet maintenance data to identify trends and support decision-making
• Innovative problem solver with strong critical and adaptive thinking skills
• Effective communicator, able to present technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
• Collaborative team player who can also work independently with minimal supervision
• Committed to continuous learning and holding a high standard of quality in all aspects of the role
