Project Manager - R&D
Summary
Olymel is hiring an R&D Project Manager in Ontario to run food product development projects end to end — coordinating with marketing, quality, purchasing, and factory teams, developing SOPs and product specifications, and overseeing sample creation in lab kitchens and plants. Core focus: food science rigor plus project management.
The Role, Your Impact
In collaboration with the Chief of development projects – poultry, the project manager plays a central role in opportunities identified by the marketing teams or the commercial strategy department. A scientific and rigorous approach is expected for each project, integrating quality and food safety standards.
The project manager must also demonstrate the ability to follow strict project charters and to understand and precisely define client expectations.
More specifically, the role consists of:
- Managing various types of food product development projects,
- Ensuring effective monitoring and management of all project stages by rigorously following the established project management structure,
- Establishing a collaborative and informative link between internal and external clients, as well as with the account manager or innovation department, to ensure a clear understanding of needs and objectives,
- Working closely with the technical services team, as well as the purchasing and operations departments, to ensure optimal coordination of activities related to food product development,
- Developing standard operating procedures and product specifications, defining monitoring frequencies in partnership with the factory and corporate quality departments to ensure compliance with established standards and specifications,
- Ensuring and coordinating the creation of samples both in our laboratory kitchen and in the factories,
- Providing local factory follow-ups and support to other R&D project managers
What we expect
- Degree in food science, food engineering, or a related field
- Significant experience in food product development
- In-depth knowledge of food industry regulations and standards
- Mastery of project management processes and tools
- Ability to work varied hours depending on the needs of assigned projects
- Ability to travel to multiple factories
