Primary Purpose of this Position:

The Project Manager is responsible for managing reinforcing steel (rebar) projects from award through fabrication and final delivery, with primary responsibility for coordinating and overseeing rebar detailing work performed by outside/third-party detailers. This position serves as the primary link between customers, contractors, external detailing resources, estimating, fabrication, purchasing, shipping, and field personnel.
The Project Manager is responsible for ensuring detailing is accurate, timely, and aligned with contract documents, approved drawings, project specifications, fabrication capabilities, and construction schedules. This position proactively manages RFIs, drawing revisions, approvals, material releases, fabrication priorities, and delivery requirements to keep projects on schedule while minimizing errors, rework, and unnecessary costs.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Coordinate bid activities and support the estimating process from opportunity development through proposal submission.
2. Manage assigned rebar projects from project turnover/award through completion.
3. Review contracts, estimates, project specifications, structural drawings, addenda, schedules, scope requirements, and other project documents.
4. Establish project requirements, milestones, detailing schedules, fabrication needs, and anticipated delivery dates.
5. Maintain a clear understanding of the project's scope of work and identify potential scope gaps or conflicts.
6. Coordinate project activities between customers, general contractors, subcontractors, outside detailers, fabrication personnel, and internal departments.
7. Track project progress and proactively identify issues that may affect detailing, fabrication, delivery, cost, or schedule.
8. Maintain organized and accurate project files, correspondence, drawings, approvals, revisions, RFIs, change documentation, and other project records.
9. Participate in project meetings as required and communicate relevant information to internal and external team members.
10. Assign detailing work to approved outside detailing firms or individual detailers based on project requirements, workload, capabilities, and schedule.
11. Provide outside detailers with complete and current project information, including structural and architectural drawings, specifications, addenda, project schedules, scope requirements, and company detailing standards.
12. Establish detailing priorities, drawing packages, deadlines, and expected turnaround times.
13. Maintain regular communication with outside detailers regarding project status, upcoming releases, revisions, RFIs, and changing priorities.
14. Monitor outside detailing performance for accuracy, quality, responsiveness, and schedule compliance.
15. Review detailing progress against project and fabrication schedules and adjust priorities when necessary.
16. Ensure outside detailers are working from the most current drawings, specifications, addenda, and revisions.
17. Coordinate the transfer and organization of electronic drawings, models, bar lists, fabrication files, and other detailing documents.
18. Track outstanding detailing work and proactively follow up on overdue or incomplete packages.
19. Review outside detailing invoices, quantities, or charges when assigned and verify they correspond with authorized work.
20. Communicate recurring quality, accuracy, or performance concerns regarding outside detailers to management.
21. Develop strong working relationships with outside detailing partners while maintaining accountability for company standards and project expectations.
