What is the job opportunity?
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager / Senior Project Engineer to join our Brisbane CBD-based Pre-contracts team and assist with our existing tender work and upcoming tender opportunities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to transition from site-based work back into an office environment.
Working closely with our Pre-contracts, Estimating, Engineering, Commercial and Operations teams, you will provide senior project and technical input across current tenders while helping to plan, coordinate and bid manage upcoming opportunities from strategy through to final submission. Depending on project awards and business requirements, there may also be an opportunity to transition back into project delivery and lead or support the successful execution of a project.
You will support Spiecapag’s broader tender programme, contributing to work already underway and coordinating future bids to develop competitive, practical and commercially sound submissions. Your role will include:
- Supporting existing tender activities and leading or coordinating upcoming bids, including tender strategy, programme, governance, reviews and submission
- Reviewing tender documentation to confirm scope, deliverables, contractual requirements and client expectations
- Coordinating inputs from estimating, engineering, construction, commercial, planning, procurement, HSEQ and other stakeholders
- Developing project execution strategies, construction methodologies, resourcing plans, schedules and tender deliverables
- Leading constructability reviews and identifying delivery risks, opportunities, assumptions and value-engineering initiatives
- Working with the estimating and commercial teams to ensure pricing, methodology, programme and contractual positions remain aligned
- Engaging with clients, joint venture partners, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors to support a compelling and deliverable solution
- Preparing and presenting tender reviews, recommendations and approval submissions to senior management
- Ensuring all tender documents are accurate, compliant, professionally presented and submitted on time
- Supporting tender clarification, negotiation and handover activities, with the potential to move into project delivery following award
About you?
The successful applicant will have the following qualifications, experience and capabilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline
- Demonstrated experience as a Project Manager, Senior Project Engineer, Bid Manager or in a comparable senior project delivery role
- Proven capability to lead or coordinate complex construction tenders from initial review through to submission and clarification
- Strong construction and constructability knowledge, ideally within pipelines, civil infrastructure, energy or resources projects
- Sound commercial and contractual awareness, with the ability to identify and manage tender risks and opportunities
- Experience developing methodologies, programmes, resourcing strategies, management plans and other technical tender deliverables
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management and influencing skills across multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, persuasive submissions and executive presentations
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively to strict tender deadlines
- Availability to work from our Brisbane CBD office for the tender period, with flexibility to transition to project delivery following award
