Project Manager
Summary
Oversee end-to-end delivery of custom steel building projects, coordinating customers, engineering, manufacturing, and logistics while managing schedules, budgets, and change orders.
About Sunward Steel Buildings
Family-owned and American-made for over 50 years. We design, engineer, and manufacture fully custom steel buildings delivered to every state in the U.S. and across Canada - aircraft hangars, industrial facilities, arenas, agricultural buildings, self-storage complexes, barndominiums, and more. No two projects are alike, and that is exactly how we like it.
We do not sell from a catalog. We partner with each customer to understand their vision and engineer a solution built specifically for them. That consultative, delivery-focused approach is what has kept us growing for half a century - and it is what makes the Project Manager role at Sunward genuinely different from managing commodity construction.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Project Manager to own the full lifecycle of custom steel building projects - from contract handoff through manufacturing, delivery, and closeout. You will be the central coordination point between customers, sales, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and external partners. Every project you manage is a relationship, a schedule, a financial commitment, and a reflection of Sunward’s reputation.
This is a role for someone who takes genuine ownership - who does not wait to be chased for updates, who sees scope issues before they become customer problems, and who brings solutions rather than just status reports. If you are organized, accountable, and energized by keeping complex moving parts on track, this was built for you.
What You Will Do
- Own the full project lifecycle from contract handoff through design coordination, manufacturing, delivery, and formal closeout - serving as the single accountable point of contact for every project in your portfolio
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, milestones, and execution plans, proactively identifying schedule risks and driving corrective action before they become customer-facing issues
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, builders, architects, and external partners on drawings, schedules, delivery timelines, and issue resolution
- Analyze, document, price, and execute change orders with precision - protecting project margin while clearly communicating cost and schedule impacts to customers and internal stakeholders
- Coordinate cross-functionally with engineering, drafting, manufacturing, procurement, and logistics to ensure accurate, on-time execution of all project deliverables
- Monitor project financial performance throughout execution, flagging budget variances early and escalating risks to leadership with recommended solutions
- Maintain accurate, real-time project records in ERP, MBS, CRM, and project management platforms - pipeline hygiene is non-negotiable
- Generate regular project status reports and portfolio-level summaries for operations leadership highlighting schedule performance, financial health, and open risks
