Job description

Experienced risk management professional responsible for developing and implementing risk management standards, policies, and procedures for construction projects. Skilled in identifying, assessing, monitoring, and reporting project risks throughout the project lifecycle, while facilitating risk workshops, maintaining risk registers, and preparing detailed risk reports for project stakeholders. Adept at collaborating with clients, consultants, and contractors to evaluate risk issues, ensure effective mitigation strategies, and support informed decision-making. Proven ability to train project teams, manage risk databases, and ensure compliance with quality, environmental, health, and safety requirements to enhance overall project performance and governance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing risk management standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Establishing and managing the program risk management plan.
  • Identifying, assessing, monitoring, and reporting risks within the project.
  • Creating risk reports for project managers.
  • Reviewing the accuracy of risk scoring and adequacy of risk mitigation plans.
  • Facilitating the completion and updating of the project risk register.
  • Analyzing and monitoring the progress of management actions by each risk owner.
  • Training and educating project staff to create continuous awareness for risk management.
  • Taking ownership of the risk database.
  • Generating monthly reports for risk meetings with client representatives.
  • Preparing ad-hoc risk management reports as required.
  • Preparing and implementing a risk management plan for construction projects outlining the processes to mitigate risks, including risk identification procedures, risk evaluation procedures, and risk mitigation procedures.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant quality, environmental, safety, and occupational health policies, manuals, and procedures in place within the company.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the line manager or supervisor.
  • Conducting risk workshops and risk assessments on projects during the execution phase.
  • Meeting with clients, consultants, and contractors to identify, assess, and evaluate risk issues arising from different phases in the project lifecycle.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or management from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 20 years’ experience in engineering and/or project management, including experience as a risk manager on large-scale projects.
  • Experience and demonstrated skills in identifying problems, assessing alternatives, and determining solutions.
  • Reliability and initiative to deliver success without immediate supervision.
  • Proven experience and understanding of commercial risk management practices and procedures, preferably within the relevant cluster context.
  • Proven experience in risk quantification (cost, schedule, quality, safety).
  • Proven experience in maintaining risk management databases.
  • Proven experience with corporate risk management procedures.
  • Experience working internationally, with preference given to experience in Saudi Arabia.
