Summary
Design, develop, and maintain Python-based test automation frameworks and regression suites to validate networking and security products such as Ethernet switches, routers, SD-WAN, and SASE. Day to day involves functional/integration/performance testing, L2-L4 validation, traffic generation with Ixia/Spirent, and troubleshooting via packet captures and logs.
Role & responsibilities
Role Description : As a L2 / L3 Datacom Test Automation Engineer, you will design, develop, and maintain Python-based test automation frameworks and scripts to validate networking and security solutions.
Your responsibilities will include
- Develop and maintain Python automation scripts, frameworks, and regression test suites.
- Execute functional, integration, performance, and end-to-end tests for Ethernet Switches, Routers , SD-WAN and SASE solutions.
- Validate L2 - L4 networking, including switching, routing, traffic handling, and failover.
- Configure traffic generators, build traffic profiles, and measure throughput, latency, packet loss, & scale.
- Troubleshoot failures using packet captures, logs, and network diagnostic tools.
- Apply AI-assisted tools to improve test creation, scripting, and failure analysis.
Qualifications
- Solid knowledge of SD-WAN / SASE / NGFW concepts, networking fundamentals, L2L4 networking, including Ethernet, VLANs, routing, TCP/IP, and UDP.(TCP/IP, routing, VPNs, firewalls), and security best practices.
- Strong hands-on Python programming and test automation skills.
- Solid understanding of
- Hands-on experience with traffic generators such as Ixia, Spirent, preferably including automation through APIs.
- Familiarity with Linux, REST APIs, Wireshark, and tcpdump.
- Practical familiarity with AI-assisted coding, testing, or debugging.
- Strong analytical skills and ownership of product quality.
- Strong foundation in Quality Assurance and Software Testing, including understanding of QA processes, methodologies, and best practices.
- Experience in designing, documenting, and maintaining Test Cases for functional, regression, and integration testing.
- Hands-on experience with Manual Testing to validate complex scenarios, edge cases, and exploratory tests.
- Practical expertise in QA Automation, including building and maintaining test automation frameworks and scripts.
- Proficiency with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail, or equivalent) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Ability to analyze logs, troubleshoot issues, and work closely with cross-functional engineering teams.
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a setup from Bengaluru.
