Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner - Substance Use Disorder RRTP Program Manager

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Major duties include but may not be limited to the following: Uses advanced clinical judgment to independently provide evidence-based treatment to Veterans with acute or chronic mental illness including use of psychotropic medications, psychotherapy, and other modalities Provides patient and family education on medical/MH conditions, preventive measures, and prescribed treatments Demonstrates leadership and engages in collaboration with other MH and specialty care professionals while involving Veterans and their families (as appropriate), in treatment plan development Assesses and adjusts the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes Counsels and treats patients with substance use disorders Orders and interprets labs, tests, and diagnostic studies Initiates referrals and consults to specialty services Manages all clinical and administrative operation of the Domiciliary (DOM) to ensure the safe, efficient, and effective provision of rehabilitation and treatment services Provides administrative supervision for the clinical and administrative staff assigned to the DOM Maximizes bed occupancy by coordinating discharges and admissions of Veterans, and individualizing discharges based on Veterans' achievement of their goals Develops and maintains documentation, information, and procedures related to the program, including the program Patient Handbooks Responsible for preparing and presenting all reports requested and required by the Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Inspector General, Joint Commission, CARF and other organizations Represents the HWW DOM SUD at VA, JC, CARF, mental health committees and work groups, and stakeholders meetings. Serves as liaison between program and accrediting organizations, community agencies, Veterans groups, government organizations, and other VA clinics and groups. Reports all adverse events and significant incidents and program changes to supervisors, VA leadership, and accrediting organizations as required Serves as the first point of contact for Veterans who wish to convey complaints, concerns or requests regarding any aspect of the overall program. Accordingly, liaisons with the VA patient advocates, Mental Health Executive Team and/or Chief of Mental Health as needed Facilitates interdisciplinary treatment team meetings, patient reviews, and DOM SUD community meetings Oversees and monitors Veterans' adherence with program and medical center rules, regulations and policies. Tracks, monitors, and reports on Veterans' participation in therapeutic activities Conducts and reports on unit environmental and safety inspections. Initiates and tracks work orders, maintenance requests, and requests for purchases to improve physical environment in order to maximize a homelike and therapeutic environment for Veterans. Maintains and reports on all aspects of physical environment as appropriate Develops and implements all program administrative forms, form letters, data spreadsheets, schedules, tracking forms, logs, attendance, certificates, educational and informational publications, reports, and other program paperwork Responsible for the coordination, daily operation, and monitoring of maintenance of the keyless security system for the DOM Facilitates the interdisciplinary treatment team in providing comprehensive and integrated clinical services to Veterans in the DOM Responsible for ensuring that all clinical documentation, including patient centered care plans, are completed in a timely and comprehensive manner.
