PT K-12 Academic Coaches

Best Foot Forward, a nonprofit based in Boca Raton serving at-risk and foster care students throughout Palm Beach County, is seeking Academic Coaches for grades K-7 and 8-12 to join our team. This role is ideal for those who are looking for a meaningful, flexible part-time position where you would make a lasting difference in the lives of young people.

The K-7 Academic Coach to provide one-on-one support with a focus on reading, writing, comprehension and general learning skills for our students. The 8-12 Academic Coach will work one-on-one with high school students, providing the guidance, encouragement, and accountability they need to stay on track for graduation and future success.

These roles are ideal for those who are passionate about education, enjoys building positive relationships with students, and is committed to helping young people overcome challenges and reach their full potential. As an Academic Coach, you'll serve as a mentor, motivator, and advocate, helping students develop the academic and life skills needed to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

Position Details

Job Type: Part-time (24-28 hours per week)

Schedule: Monday-Friday between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM (flexible within that window)

Location: Various schools throughout Palm Beach County (reliable transportation is required)

Please Note: This is a dedicated daytime part-time position and is not intended to supplement a full-time teaching schedule.

K-7 Key Responsibilities

• Meet with students on a weekly basis at the student's school, during the school day, to provide one-on-one instruction/ intervention services with a focus on reading
• Collaborate with classroom teachers
• Utilize various teaching techniques to match a student's learning style
• Assess students using a variety of measures to determine specific instructional needs
• Participate in student meetings as necessary
• Handle emotional issues with sensitivity
• Maintain confidentiality of students' personal information

8-12 Key Responsibilities

• Provide individualized, one-on-one academic coaching to high school students during the school day.
• Build positive, supportive relationships that encourage students to remain engaged, motivated, and focused on achieving their academic goals.
• Help students develop effective organizational, time management, study, and learning strategies that promote long-term academic success.
• Monitor and review student grades, attendance, and academic progress on a weekly basis, identifying areas where additional support may be needed.
• Collaborate with school personnel and the Best Foot Forward team to create and implement strategies that support each student's success.
• Identify academic barriers, learning patterns, and challenges, and develop individualized approaches to help students overcome them.
• Assist students with assignments, projects, test preparation, and study planning, while coordinating tutoring services when additional academic support is needed.
• Encourage personal growth by helping students set realistic goals, celebrate achievements, and remain accountable for their progress.
• Use positive reinforcement, incentives, and creative motivational strategies to increase student engagement and confidence.
• Maintain accurate documentation by completing and submitting session notes and required program records in a timely manner.
• Participate in student support and team meetings as needed.
• Represent Best Foot Forward with professionalism.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Teaching experience strongly preferred
• Bachelor's degree required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and patient
• Ability to work confidentially and exercise discretion
• Team player with excellent interpersonal skills
• Have reliable transportation
• Must have bachelor's degree or higher
