Summary

Plan and execute public affairs campaigns, draft communications materials, and manage social media to educate the public about U.S. Mint programs and services.

This position is located at US Mint,Office of the Director. As a Public Affairs Specialist, you will plan, design, develop, and disseminate public affairs information and materials to inform and educate the public about bureau programs, products and services.

As a Public Affairs Specialist, you will: Plan, develop and execute special events for new coin and medal programs and programs highlighting the Mint's mission and history. Draft and edit talking points, speeches, scripts, articles, press releases, event announcements, displays, and other types of multi-media presentations, including PowerPoint, consistent with bureau messages and priorities. Use a variety of methods and techniques to achieve communication goals such as personal appearances, presentations, exhibits, newsletters, brochures, pamphlets, social media posts, etc. Be responsible for all Social Media content management, working alongside other Mint divisions such as Sales and Marketing, to develop cohesive, consistent messaging.

All employees must wear face masks while on MINT property when required by CDC and Federal guidelines. All newly appointed employees to the competitive (or excepted) service are subject to a probationary (or trial) period. During this time, your performance, conduct, and suitability for continued employment will be evaluated. You will not automatically convert to permanent status at the end of the probationary (or trial) period. Your supervisor must affirmatively determine that continued employment is in the best interest of the Federal service. If no certification is made before the probationary (or trial) period ends, your appointment will be terminated. You are encouraged to actively engage with your supervisor, seek feedback, and understand role expectations. Additional guidance and support will be provided during onboarding. Must successfully complete a background investigation. Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required. Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency. Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer. If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so. Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9. May be required to file a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report within 30 days of appointment and annually from then on. May be required to undergo an income tax verification Shift Work: This facility operates on a 24 hour per day, three-shift basis. Assignment to a specific shift cannot be guaranteed.
