Barnes & Thornburg LLP, an Am Law 100 firm with a nationally recognized Public and Project Finance practice, is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Project Coordinator to support its Public Finance team in Minneapolis. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate who enjoys coordinating complex, document-intensive work in a fast-paced environment and is interested in building long-term experience within a sophisticated transactional legal practice.
Our nationally recognized Public Finance group is Chambers ranked Band 1 and advises investment banking firms, commercial banks, health systems, universities, state and local governmental entities, and other clients on complex and high-impact municipal bond financings across the country. The team serves in a wide range of roles, including underwriter’s counsel, bond counsel, disclosure counsel, and borrower's counsel.
Position Overview
The Project Coordinator will provide day-to-day coordination and operational support for public finance transactions and related matters. This role will help attorneys and professional staff manage timelines, organize documents, track deliverables, coordinate closing processes, and maintain efficient workflows across multiple active matters.
The position is designed to meet immediate team needs while also supporting long-term continuity within the practice. It is well suited for a candidate with strong project coordination skills, excellent judgment, and exceptional attention to detail who is interested in taking on increasing responsibility over time.
Responsibilities
Support attorneys, paralegals, and deal teams on public finance transactions and related matters
Assemble, organize, and track transaction documents, closing checklists, transcripts, and related materials
Monitor deadlines and outstanding items and follow up with internal and external parties as needed
Assist with closing and post-closing processes, including maintaining organized transaction records
Assist with document review, compilation, and detailed tracking of large volumes of information
Help maintain consistent workflows, organizational systems, and support processes within the practice
Leverage AI tools to support project management, document drafting, workflow organization, and transaction coordination across public finance matters
Take on increasing responsibility as familiarity with the practice and its work grows
Qualifications
Prior experience in project coordination, legal support, transactional practice support, finance, banking, or another professional services environment preferred
Experience supporting complex, document-intensive matters or transactions strongly preferred
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to build effective working relationships with attorneys, professional staff, clients, and outside parties
Sound judgment, strong follow-through, and the ability to work independently
Proactive, adaptable, and resourceful approach to problem-solving
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong overall Microsoft Office skills preferred
Interest in developing long-term experience in a transactional legal practice
