Charlotte County Tourism is seeking a part-time public relations assistant to support public relations, media relations, tourism partnerships, hosted media experiences, special events, and promotional initiatives for the Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach Visitor & Convention Bureau.
Key Responsibilities- Build relationships with tourism industry partners, travel journalists, and social media influencers.
- Assist with recruiting and coordinating hosted media and Familiarization tours, including itineraries, accommodations, transportation, dining, and attractions.
- Draft and proofread press releases, media pitches, and editorial responses.
- Research tourism trends and identify media and promotional opportunities.
- Collaborate on social media and content development.
- Monitor and track media coverage and share results with tourism partners.
- Prepare media kits and promotional materials and assist with public relations events.
- Support tourism programs and special events, including the Annual Tourism Celebration and Event Development Program.
- Maintain records, process related expenditures, prepare reports, and provide general administrative support.
- Provide exceptional customer service and professional communication to partners, media, vendors, and the public.

Your Purpose & Day-To-Day Journey
Education and Experience:
An equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience:
Bachelor's degree
Preferred:
Communications
Marketing
Public Relations
Media
Two (2) years of experience in public relations, digital marketing and social media.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to speak, read, and write in German and/or Spanish.
Licenses and/or Certificates: N/A

Ability to analyze and interpret departmental rules, regulations, procedures and policies and exercise judgement and discretion in application
Skills in the use of office equipment such as computer, multi-line telephone system, scanner, fax machine and copier
Ability to meet deadlines and maintain accurate records and reports
Strong written and verbal communications
Detailed oriented with excellent organizational skills
Familiarity with social media platforms and basic content creation tools
Positive attitude, eagerness to learn and ability to work in a team environment
Adaptability and problem-solving skills
Event planning
Ability to communicate proficiently in English, both orally and in writing.
