Public Works Manager
NewBe an early applicantUnder the direction of the Public Works Director, plan, organize, control and Manage the operations, services and activities of the Public Works department; coordinate and manage personnel, resources, projects and communications to meet tribal needs and assure smooth and efficient Department activities; supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel.
- Any combination equivalent to: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, business administration or related field; or five years increasingly responsible experience working with public works or similar projects and activities including project management duties and two years in a supervisory capacity.
- Valid California driver’s license and a good driving record for insurability on Morongo’s vehicle insurance
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License, or ability to obtain within the first 180 days of employment.
- Planning, organization and Management of Public Works operations, services and activities.
- Practices, procedures and techniques involved in the development and implementation of public works programs, projects, functions, services, goals, objectives, systems and activities.
- Applicable project design, development, construction and implementation policies and procedures.
- Proper methods, techniques, materials, tools and equipment used in modern custodial work, construction functions, grounds maintenance activities and building maintenance trades.
- Requirements of maintaining buildings, facilities, streets, grounds and equipment in good repair.
- Tribal standards and requirements concerning public works programs and projects.
- Applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Technical aspects of field of specialty.
- Coordinate and manage personnel, resources, projects and communications to meet tribal needs and assure smooth and efficient Department activities.
- Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel.
- Inspect projects for accuracy, completeness and compliance with contracts and specifications.
- Assure adequate personnel, equipment and material levels to meet project needs and timelines.
- Oversee the development and implementation of Public Works programs, projects, functions, services, goals, objectives, systems and activities.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
- Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
- Meet schedules and timelines.
- Work independently with little direction.
- Plan and organize work.
- Prepare comprehensive narrative and statistical reports.
- Direct the maintenance of a variety of reports, records and files related to assigned activities.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.), internet software and appropriate storage of electronic files.
- Ability to perform other duties as assigned.
