Purchasing Assistant

Assists the Purchasing team by translating Japanese product documents, maintaining product records, and verifying import/export documentation for food products.
Job Description
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Purchasing Assistant to join our Purchasing team. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates who are interested in purchasing, product documentation, and the food import/export industry.
You will support the Purchasing Manager and Purchasing Executives in maintaining product information, translating Japanese documents, and assisting with documentation related to imported food products. Training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate Japanese product labels, specifications, and related documents into English.
- Maintain and update product master lists, product specifications, and purchasing records.
- Verify product information, including ingredients, nutritional information, packaging details, and product specifications.
- Assist in checking Singapore Food Agency (SFA) requirements under the guidance of the Purchasing Manager.
- Prepare and maintain product documentation for import and export activities.
- Support communication with headquarters in Japan, overseas offices, suppliers, and internal departments regarding product information and documentation.
- Organize and maintain purchasing records and documentation.
- Provide administrative support to the Purchasing team.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Purchasing Manager.
Requirements
- Diploma in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Food Science, or a related field.
- JLPT N3 or above.
- Ability to read and understand Japanese documents and product labels.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel (sorting, filtering, and basic formulas).
- Previous administrative experience is preferred, but fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
- Good organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Willing to learn and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in the food industry or import/export business will be an advantage, but is not required.
