Job Summary
Manage procurement and supply chain operations to ensure efficient sourcing, cost control, quality assurance, and category profitability for fresh produce in a dynamic online grocery environment.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain a stable, efficient direct-procurement supply chain by connecting with production bases, agricultural cooperatives, and primary wholesale markets
- Conduct regular supplier evaluations to assess qualifications, pricing, and performance, selecting high-quality suppliers and discontinuing underperforming ones
- Develop data-driven procurement plans daily, weekly, and monthly based on store sales data, seasonality, and market trends to prevent stockouts and overstocking
- Conduct market inquiries, price comparisons, and negotiations to optimize procurement batches and models, reducing costs and improving gross margins on fresh produce
- Establish and enforce acceptance standards for fruits and vegetables, monitoring pesticide residues, freshness, and product specifications to ensure consistent quality across the supply chain
- Monitor and control product losses from harvesting through transportation, storage, and shelf display, collaborating with operations teams to optimize displays and inventory turnover
- Analyze sales velocity, sell-through rates, and consumer feedback to adjust product assortments and category planning promptly
- Coordinate with marketing teams to plan seasonal product launches and promotional activities that enhance category profitability
- Select and purchase orchards for the fresh fruit project by understanding seasonal and regional fruit availability
- Supervise sorting and packaging operations at inspection and sorting plants to ensure quality and efficiency
- Collaborate with logistics companies to complete export operations smoothly
