Job Summary:

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the company’s activities of the Purchasing Department. They will adhere to all Bandit safety, quality, inventory and production guidelines, standards, policies, and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the purchasing team and plan and coordinate the work of buyers and purchasing agents.

  • Collaborates with other departments and leadership to identify and develop needs and requirements for equipment, materials, products, and acceptable substitutions.

  • Assess current material availability; reasonably predicts future availability based on market, delivery systems, and other variables.

  • Research and compare suppliers, based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier’s reputation and history.

  • Drafts, explains, and implements instructions, policies, and procedures for purchasing contract management.

  • Prepare purchase orders and review requisitions for goods and services, recommend alternatives if necessary.

  • Purchase the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible price and in correct amounts.

  • Negotiate contracts on behalf of their organization.

  • Acts as the company’s representative in negotiations with suppliers.

  • Meet with vendors to discuss goods and services and determine necessary actions.

  • Manages purchases by forwarding orders to suppliers and monitoring and expediting orders.

  • Resolves grievances with vendors, contractors, and suppliers, including resolving any shipment errors with suppliers.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Experience in analysis, implementation, and evaluation of accounting systems and their specifications.

  • Excellent verbal and written skills, with proven negotiation skills.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Strong computer skills including use of Microsoft Office Suite and SAP.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to effectively train others.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.

  • Thorough understanding of materials and supplies used in the company.

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or related field is preferred but not required.

  • Ten (10) or more years of experience in supply chain management or related position.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently sit for extended periods of time

  • Occasionally stand, walk, push, pull, stoop, pinch, grasp, and/or bend

  • Requires employee to occasionally visit production environment where weather conditions may vary.

  • Occasionally required to use personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent injury.

  • Occasionally lift 30 pounds
