The Company…
The company was founded in 1994 and is one of Australia’s leading
suppliers of all things in, on and around concrete. They also provide wholesale
distribution of industrial concrete supplies to trade stores throughout
Australia. With recent growth in their business, they are seeking a full-time Purchasing Officer to provide procurement support to the Purchasing Manager and the Accounts team.
The Position…
The Purchasing Officer will be responsible for proactively purchasing and managing trade store inventory levels, ensuring that products are purchased at the required quantity and quality, and on time. You will work with the team to ensure quality of all materials meets the standards set by the company. In addition, you will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with new and existing suppliers, while maintaining effective communication to ensure that all deliveries are followed up accordingly.
More specific responsibilities for the Purchasing Officer include:
- Managing procurement of all
products, supplies and equipment
- Purchase order management
- Effectively creating,
managing and tracking shipments
- Management of the
re-ordering process
- Management of company
quality standards, which includes identification and assessment of products
from alternative local and overseas suppliers and performing a cost benefit
analysis with respect to existing suppliers.
- Administrative tasks as
required, including accurate preparation of spreadsheet of new supplier price
lists.
The ideal candidate will
have the following:
- A minimum of 2 years of
direct work experience in a purchasing function or supply chain position
- Experience working within
a warehouse environment
- Basic knowledge of supply chain
management in a manufacturing environment
- Strong organisational
skills
- Strong attention to detail

and interpersonal skills
- Must be proficient and
comfortable with personal computer navigation and operation
- Good problem solving and
analytical skills
- Ability to work in a team
- Work regular hours between
Monday to Friday.
