Python Backend Engineer

Job Description

Location: USA & LATAM | Remote

Employment Type: Contractor, Full-time

What You’ll Do:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using Python, Flask, or FastAPI
• Build clean, maintainable, and scalable solutions following Python best practices and PEP8
• Work with SQL databases, particularly PostgreSQL
• Develop unit and integration tests using Pytest
• Create and maintain API documentation using Swagger/OpenAPI, Insomnia, or similar tools
• Integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI-powered functionality into backend applications
• Work with Git-based development workflows and participate in code reviews
• Debug, troubleshoot, and improve existing backend systems
• Contribute to CI/CD processes and development automation
• Collaborate with engineers and other team members in an Agile environment
• Communicate effectively with an international team in English

Requirements

What We’re Looking For:

• 2–3+ years of commercial Python development experience
• Strong knowledge of Python fundamentals
• Hands-on experience with Flask and/or FastAPI
• Experience developing and integrating REST APIs
• Practical experience with SQL databases; PostgreSQL is preferred
• Experience with unit and integration testing
• Familiarity with Docker
• Confident use of Git and Git-based development workflows
• Familiarity with code-quality tools such as PyLint, Flake8, or similar
• Experience or strong practical interest in integrating LLMs into backend applications
• Ability to work in Linux and/or Windows environments
• English level B2 or higher
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach
• Ability to work independently and effectively within a distributed team
• Based in the USA or LATAM

Nice to Have

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, such as Jenkins or GitLab CI
• Experience with cloud platforms
• Familiarity with Kubernetes
• Experience with Jira, Crucible, or similar collaboration tools
• Previous hands-on experience integrating LLM APIs or AI-powered features
