Python/Data Engineer - Cape Town
Summary
Intermediate Python/Data Engineer joins a growing company's data team in Cape Town (hybrid, 2 office days a week) to help migrate on-premise infrastructure to the cloud, building data solutions with AWS, Kubernetes, Snowflake, PostgreSQL and MS SQL while growing toward a senior role.
Oliver Bernard have partnered with a growing business looking to strengthen its data engineering team with an ambitious engineer ready to take on more responsibility and make a real impact.
With a major cloud migration underway and plenty of scope to influence technical decisions, this is a great opportunity for someone looking to develop beyond an intermediate level.
What you'll be working on:
- Supporting a transition from on-premise infrastructure to the cloud.
- Working with AWS and Kubernetes across modern data infrastructure.
- Building and maintaining solutions using Snowflake, PostgreSQL and MS SQL.
- Collaborating with the technical lead on engineering design and architectural decisions.
- Taking ownership of projects while developing towards a senior-level position.
What we're looking for:
- Exposure to AWS and cloud-based infrastructure.
- Experience with Kubernetes and modern data technologies.
- A proactive mindset, someone who asks questions, challenges ideas and enjoys working independently.
- Someone keen to develop their technical leadership skills and eventually mentor junior engineers.
Location: Cape Town City Centre
Hybrid: 2 days in the office per week (Tuesday and Thursday)
