Python Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Backend Development: Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and high-performance backend systems using Python and FastAPI. Implement efficient algorithms and data structures to optimise application performance.
• Database Management: Develop and manage SQL and relational databases, including schema design, query optimisation, data modelling, and maintaining data integrity.
• API Development and Integration: Design, develop, and manage RESTful APIs using FastAPI for seamless integration with frontend applications and external services. Ensure APIs are secure, efficient, scalable, and well-documented.
• Collaboration: Work closely with frontend developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver high-quality backend solutions.
• Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, reusable, and well-documented Python code. Participate in code reviews and follow coding best practices and standards.
• Troubleshooting and Optimisation: Identify and resolve bugs, performance bottlenecks, and technical issues while continuously monitoring and optimising backend application performance.
• Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for backend systems, APIs, database structures, and processes to support knowledge sharing and onboarding.

Requirements:

• 2+ years of professional experience in Python backend development.
• Strong proficiency in Python for backend application development.
• Hands-on experience with FastAPI and developing RESTful APIs.
• Strong experience with SQL and relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Solid understanding of RESTful API design, HTTP methods, status codes, authentication, and API security.
• Good understanding of backend development concepts including API integration, data structures, error handling, and performance optimisation.
• Familiarity with Git and version control systems.
• Proven experience building and maintaining scalable and reliable backend applications.
• Good understanding of software development best practices, code reviews, testing, and documentation.
• Exposure to Docker, cloud platforms, or CI/CD is an added advantage.
